Spring Break, Stem Cells, and Me!!!
This week I am on spring break… You can’t imagine how much I have been looking forward to this week. I flew home for the weekend and had the opportunity to visit with my family and friends. It was good to get home for a few days. I have missed all of my family and friends so much and it was refreshing to see them again. I am writing this post in the airport, as I am about to board my plane and fly back to Baltimore. I need to get back so I can get back into the swing of things with therapy. I am really hoping that it is a lot warmer when I get back, than it was when I left..
Recently President Obama overturned the funding for embryonic stem cell research. This will allow millions of dollars to be put into research. This is a very controversial subject with many different opinions. When I first heard the word ‘embryonic’ I was a little bit leery. However, after learning more I have a new opinion on the matter. It is very important for us to educate ourselves with all that is involved before making a decision. After looking deeper into the research, I learned the embryos that are being used for research are those that are being thrown away. Now, instead of throwing these embryos away, they will be used to multiply stem cell lines where they may benefit millions and millions of human beings. Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, ALS as well as paralysis will benefit from this research. Although this is a very exciting time for individuals who may benefit from the cure from this research, we must remain patient. It may take years and years for the research to develop where it may treat an individual. We must remain patient until that day comes.
All of this research is very encouraging and exciting, especially to those who may have the chance at a normal lifestyle again. We must not forget that there is a cure already available. That cure is the power of God. I already know that through prayer, all things are possible. I know that God has the ability and has already shown me that he can cure my body. Please continue to keep me and others going through ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ situations in your prayers.
Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and support! I am very blessed to be connected to each and everyone of you out there. I am very thankful to have you guys in my life. Thanks again and God Bless!
